Kington Langley W.I.
We
meet at the Village Hall on the second
Wednesday of every month at 7.30 p.m. The meetings usually
involve speakers on many subjects. We recently had a most
interesting talk from a young lady who had been apprenticed at
the Royal School of Needlework – her work was superb and her talk
lively and fascinating. July was in the form of a summer party in
the Presidents garden and on 10th August we had a talk
on The Yeoman of the Guard from a retired Yeoman Warder – during
the rest of the year we cover a variety of subjects, Dorothy
House/the Taste of English Cheese /Wiltshire
Wildlife/Russia/Experiences of a JP, as well as our own brand of
fun at our Christmas Meeting - the Present Exchange.
Want to know more about any of these things? Do get in touch with
any member or Elizabeth on 750631 or Jackie on 750329.
We
hold other events during the year coffee mornings/ lunches and
walks and outings as well as supporting other village events.
As
well as meetings in the village, as members of such a large
organisation we can take part in visits at home and abroad and the
WI has its own college at Denman in Oxfordshire where a variety of
courses can be undertaken in glorious surroundings.
Forget Jam and Jerusalem come and find out what
grass roots life is really about!
We always welcome new
members to join our meetings as guests, or as potential new
members. One new recruit has recently been heard to say –
“I didn’t know WI could be so much fun!”

Kington Langley Women’s Institute
Alan Eaglestone, from
the Driving Standards Agency, gave a most interesting talk
entitled “Arrive Alive”. He gave helpful tips and advice in a
friendly and at times amusing way and was pleased to answer any
queries put to him.
The walk around
Westonbirt was fine in amongst the Autumn colours.
Members and husbands
thoroughly enjoyed their trip to see “Calendar Girls” at the
Theatre Royal, Bath.
The Christmas meal was
arranged for December 2nd.
The December meeting
will be at David and Barbara Sealy’s home, as the school will be
using the Village Hall. This will be the “Gift Exchange” (presents
up to £5). Each gift to be prettily wrapped for the competition.
Please bring a plate of food to share at Whitelands Farm on
December the 10th at 7.30pm.
See you at 7.30pm
