Scarecrows 2009 

Scarecrow Festival: The Results!

The various category winners in the general scarecrow competition were:

Best Newcomer (first time scarecrow entrant): Jurassic Package Holiday by the Mead family
National Costume: the English holidaymaker by the Jones family
Holiday rep: Lifeguard by Tess Dutnall
The Great Outdoors: Cycling holiday by Charlie & Ann Armor
Adventure Holiday: Safari by Philippa Mursell
Holiday Festival: Bungee jumping by the Whittock family
Dream Destination: India by Anne & John Gill
Holiday Nightmares: Swine flu in Mexico by Viv Wallace
Holiday Souvenirs: Morocco by Sue & Warren Shergold
Holiday Postcard: Beach photo opportunity by the Mathewson family
Special Effects: Raining on Gerald & Doris on holiday by Steve Howe
Best Group: Wayside Close
Highly Commended: Skier on the piste by Catherine & Simon Harris and The water park in Wayside Close by the Blair family

The scarecrow voted to be “The People’s Choice” was the skier on the piste by Catherine & Simon Harris.

The Children’s Scarecrows:

First:            Egypt by Abigail & Katherine
Second:       Surfers by Patrick & Charlie
Third:          Pony trekking by Imogen

Scarecrow Scrapheap Challenge: There were a record 15 teams.

First:            Tracy the Tourist by The Harris Girls
Second:       Left Holding the Baby by Olly, Zac and Gabe
Third:          Super-Ted by The Harris Boys

The Anagram spelt “Legoland”. The first correct entry drawn was Richard who won a box of chocolates.

The flags in the Flag Challenge were: Hong Kong, Ontario, Luxembourg, Iceland, Denmark, Australia and Yugoslavia, giving the anagram answer of “Holiday”. The first correct entry drawn was Wayne Harrison who won a box of chocolates.

The winning caption in the Caption Competition was “No-one said this was a hard hat area!” by Sabeana Shima.

The winner of the draw from the People’s Choice voting papers was Michelle Csete, who won a Sunday lunch for 4 at The Hit or Miss.
