LANGLEY FITZURSE SCHOOL NATURE RESERVE

A recent letter has been received from the Nature Crew at Langley Fitzurse School. On their behalf, Headteacher Mrs. Lynn Evans explained to the Council that the children wish to develop a Nature Reserve in the Copse by Middle Common.

Councillors agreed in principle that the project could go ahead, initially with activities like clearing the stream, setting up a leaf pile, and hedgehog and bird boxes. The area could not be fenced but native shrubs could be planted around the boundaries.

The Nature Crew have asked if they could put a path through the reserve, so Mrs. Evans agreed to organise a drawing showing where they wanted the path to go, and would further investigate materials and edging. Cllr. Schofield pointed out that two manhole covers in the area would need to be identified.

COMMONS EROSION PROJECT

Cllr. Gill asked why there was no parking on the matting yet but Cllr. Hart pointed out that with the very wet winter the area had still not bedded in sufficiently.

As originally anticipated, erosion now continues to be a problem on the opposite side of the road to the Project area. Cllr. Hart had erected markers all along the area many of which have already been removed. General opinion was that this side should be kerbed as well. Cllr. Gill suggested that this should be raised at the Annual Parish Meeting.
