KINGTON LANGLEY
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
TUESDAY 27 MARCH 2007
POLICE REPORT
PC HEATHER BARHAM
My apologies for not
speaking to you personally, but hope this highlights what plans
lay ahead regarding the policing of Kington Langley.
Most of you will know
me already as I have been the Community Beat officer for Kington
Langley. I have now taken up the position of Neighbourhood Beat
Manager for Chippenham Rural North. This includes Kington Langley.
The role of the
Neighbourhood policing teams will be to provide effective
neighbourhood policing having a dedicated team of officers and
staff working in partnership with local communities and other
agencies to identify and address issues of local concern. It is
about improving the quality of policing and increasing police
visibility and generating greater public confidence in the
services that we provide.
The community will
benefit from having more visible and accessible policing: regular
contact with and direct access to the same local officers.
Having a better say:
more effective ways of identifying and responding to what local
people see as priorities and taking action to tackle them.
Regular opportunities
to meet with the Neighbourhood policing teams to discuss issues of
concern within the village.
At the end of April
you should see an article in the Gazette identifying members of
the policing teams in each area. As yet the other members of my
team have not been selected, but you will be made aware of these
as soon as I know.
I hope to attend more
Parish Council meetings in the future and I will also be meeting
on a regular basis with the school to identify all crime and
community issues in order to deal with them quickly and
efficiently.
Successful
neighbourhood policing is very reliant on communication between
police and the community so any issues you have, should be brought
to my attention. This can be done anonymously if preferred, but I
can not act on issues that I am not informed of.
I am aware that there
have been issues in the village of a drug related nature and this
is being tackled at the moment. I will keep the Parish Council
Chairman, Cllr. Peter Hart, updated on developments with our
enquiries.
I am also aware that
we have had problems with youth egg throwing from a vehicle, this
is not only annoying but is criminal and they will be dealt with
accordingly when identified.
If you have any
information on the above issues please let me or your
neighbourhood watch coordinator [Cllr. Dennis Gill] know
immediately.
I look forward to
working with you all to make Kington Langley a crime free zone.
