We are a parent run toddler/baby group for parents/carers of
babies and children up to the age of 3 years who live in Kington
Langley, Kington St Michael and the surrounding area.
The group meets during term time in the Kington Langley Village
Hall between
9.45am and
11.30am,
and runs on a voluntary rota basis.
The children are able to play with toys to encourage physical and
imaginative play; books, puzzles, and dressing up clothes. The
hall gives us plenty of space for the little ones to toddle
about and generally wear themselves out. A craft activity is
provided by a different parent each week. We also have a well
equipped, quiet corner for babies and parents. At the end of
each session the whole group joins together for 10 minutes of
singing, using musical instruments.
Membership is growing almost weekly and we now regularly host in
excess of 25 families a week. We are delighted with the increase
in babies attending the group as these children will hopefully
be with us for the next couple of years and are therefore the
future of toddlers. Adult carers using the group include
Childminders, Mums, Dads and Grandparents and come from both
villages and Chippenham.
We aim to make the group interesting and attractive to members by
hosting different activities every fortnight. Last year, these
have included a visiting fire engine from Chippenham fire
station, a tractor from Lodge Farm, Community Police officers
from Chippenham, dance and singing teachers, a dental health
expert and a nursery nurse providing a baby weighing service.
Recent purchases have included a self propelling ride on toy, an
oven and kitchen play equipment and bouncy and activity chairs
for the baby corner, fire engine play panel set, parachute for
use at singing time and an interactive baby mirror panel.
Sessions cost £2 for an adult and up to 2 children, (50p per
extra child for more than 2 children). You pay as you come
rather than termly, so you’re not paying for any sessions you
miss, and it’s fine if you only want to come occasionally rather
than regularly. We don’t hold a waiting list and welcome new
members to come along and look around.
