Kairos Outside Cream Teas   July 10th

On Saturday July 10th, we are serving Cream Teas between 3pm and 5.30pm in St. Paul’s Church Hall, to raise funds for Kairos Outside. There will also be a Table top sale, for which we have been given some very generous donations. We also propose to have a cake stall, book stall, white elephant, raffle, jam, cards etc.

Each year, we take women who have, or have had, loved ones in prison away for a weekend. We offer them love and support in a safe and prayerful environment, alongside others in similar situations, to enable them to have the strength to cope with what they are facing. The support is ongoing, for as long as we are needed. These ladies and their families often feel as if they are in prison themselves, and we are glad to do whatever we can to help them.

Please come and support this worthwhile cause. Judy Ellett   Tel. 750452

Ladies’ Night
The next Ladies’ Night at The Hit or Miss is on Tuesday 13th July, 7.30 pm. This is open to all ladies of the village and is a relaxed social evening.

Dinner costs £9 for 2 courses or £12 for 3 courses. Please contact The Hit or Miss on 758830 to book.

The New Forest & Hampshire County Show

July 27th, 28th and 29th 2010

It is always a shame when those needing a motorised wheelchair to enjoy the Show do not book well enough in advance from Wheels for Freedom. (01202 661770)

This is an early reminder that you need to book NOW for the Show in July to be certain of being able to hire one. The Show office has so many requests in June and July from people really wanting to come and enjoy this wonderful traditional day out, but knowing that the maximum number they can bring is 100 each day, many were disappointed.

Union Chapel’s Afternoon Tea with a Film

Union Chapel’s next monthly event will be in August when we begin a new season of our Afternoon Tea with a Film

Look out for details in next month’s magazine!

For any further details please phone Pastor John or Vivien on 758864

Chippenham Lions

A really good day can be had at John Coles Park in August. The annual children’s day will be on the first, or second, Sunday in August. Last year the weather was super and lots of children had lots of fun. Chippenham Lions will be there and so will Mr.Clown. So if you enjoyed seeing him at the scarecrow weekend you will not want to miss his daft antics in John Coles Park. All this fun and raising money for good causes as well, what more could you ask for?

Lion Fact: The Lions year runs from July to June so Lions clubs all over the world are looking forward to new officers and new challenges in both ways of prising your cash from you and new causes to give that away. Hopefully many of the people who need our help will be found and helped in the local area. Often a small amount locally can make a large difference like the small amount paid for a washing machine which went recently to a deserving family and made a huge difference.

Leonard Cheshire - Greathouse - Future events:
4th September, a band concert with gates open at 6.00 pm for picnics on the lawn and the concert starting at about 7.00 pm, times to be confirmed.

12th September is the Chippenham Half Marathon and the Harriers are supporting us this year, if anyone wants to run on our behalf we would be very grateful.

19th September 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm we are having teas on the lawn and we are holding a duck race, look out for the tickets on sale now! Prizes include a case of wine. Guided tours of the grounds and a history of the house will be available.

27th November is our Christmas Bazaar from 2.00 pm,

Mobile Library

The Library Van will be at the Village Hall Car Park on the following dates between 9:15 to 10:00am:

July                      1st, 15th and 28th

August                  12th and 16th

The Library Van will be based every Saturday morning in Morrisons car park from 11:15am to 1.00pm. Please note that the next stop after Kington Langley is Kington St. Michael near the old Post Office.

The Mobile Library van carries a good selection of 'Talking Books'.

To assist users of the Mobile Library who may not be able to make the time it is in the village, from here it goes to:

Kings Lodge Farm   –   Nursery School          – 10.10 to 10.30am
Kington St Michael   –   by the old Post Office – 10.40 to 11.00am
Kington St Michael   –   School                       – 11.05 to 11.45am

The use of the Mobile Library is increasing and Steve Taylor, the Mobile Library Manager, has asked me to repeat the following information: ‘There are no fines for late return of any books borrowed from the Mobile Library’ – which helps no end.
